Mattoon Rotary recognizes one Senior male and female at their monthly luncheon as Students of the Month.
Students are nominated by MHS staff and the selection criteria includes outstanding academic achievement and citizenship.
Rotary Student of the Month for May winners were Josie Auer and Luke Ferris.
Josie is the daughter of Ron and Sue Auer. She has been an active member of the Academic Lighthouse committee, Green Wave singers, Drama Club, Reading Rangers, Lift Lead Team, and Word Smiths.
Josie plans to attend the University of Wisconsin- Parkside and major in Secondary Education.
Luke is the son of Toby and Sara Ferris. He is a member of NHS, a member of the MHS Marching Band and Jazz Band. In the fall, Luke will be attending EIU to dual major in Zoology and Music.
