Belle Powers and Madisyn Frank, two talented athletes from Mattoon Middle School, have qualified for the IESA State Golf Tournament. The girls secured their spots after a strong performance at the Girls' Sectional E Tournament held at Rantoul's Willow Pond Golf Course on Thursday, September 5th.
Powers, an 8th grader, shot a 98, earning her a tie for 2nd place. Frank, a 7th grader, carded a 100, placing her in a tie for 4th. Their impressive scores propelled them to the State tournament, which will take place on Thursday, September 12th at Metamora Fields.
Mia Cornwell, another 8th grader, also competed in the Sectional despite an injured hand. She shot a 136, tying for 24th place.
The girls were coached by Jason Enyart, an MHS Golf Coach, and Austin Frank, a Volunteer Assistant Coach for MMS.
We congratulate Belle, Madisyn, and Mia on their outstanding achievements and wish them the best of luck at the State Tournament!
