On January 22, 28 students competed in the Mattoon Middle School (MMS) Spelling Bee, demonstrating their dedication to language and academic excellence.
The top three winners were:
1st Place: Annabel Broome
2nd Place: Elle Cisna
3rd Place: Blake Gabel
The competition followed the traditional spelldown format, where each speller tackled one word per round. By inspiring the exploration of words, the Scripps National Spelling Bee illuminates pathways to life long curiosity, celebrates academic achievement, and enriches communities.
2025 marks 100 years of the Scripps National Spelling Bee program!
A special thank-you goes to the staff members who made this event possible. Their efforts continue to support and inspire students in their educational journey.
