Mattoon Rotary recognizes one Senior male and female at their monthly luncheon as Students of the Month. 🤝
Students are nominated by MHS staff and the selection criteria includes outstanding academic achievement and citizenship. Rotary Student of the Month for September winners are Miles Clapp and Piper Sanders. 👏
Miles is the son of Daryn and Lisa Clapp. He participates in NHS and is the Treasurer for Student Council. Through NHS he has done lots of community service. Miles enjoys community service because he feels it's a great way for him to give back and show his gratitude to the community. He also plays varsity sports such as soccer and wrestling. Along with this, he has been a previous FCA Leader at Mattoon Middle School and Mattoon High School. He is also on track to graduate with Summa Cum Laude from Mattoon High School. After Mattoon High School Miles plans on studying at a four-year college but is currently undecided. At this point in time Miles runs a lawn care business with his brother as well as a digital marketing agency on his own. In the future, he would like to study business and finance as well as graduate with an MBA.
Piper is the daughter of Cory and Charity Sanders. At MHS she is involved in Massive, MHS Lighthouse team member, and NHS President. Piper has played on the Varsity Basketball and Soccer teams all four years. She is the owner of a small business, P2Z Productions. Outside of MHS, Piper does children’s ministries at church, as well as Media Team and Mattoon Youth Choir. After graduation Piper plans to pursue a degree in Business Administration.
Congratulations to Miles and Piper! 🎉

Mattoon’s twenty-three football dancers are proud to combine with Charleston’s ten dancers and perform a united routine. The two teams have practiced Monday-Thursday this week to learn a 4-minute routine choreographed by Mattoon's coach Malia Smith. The teams began this tradition with the first Clash held in 2012. This year the routine is hosted and choreographed by Mattoon’s dance coaching staff.
