The Kindness Club at Williams Elementary recently set up and ran a Hot Chocolate Bar for teachers throughout the school. The kids even made classroom deliveries! Big shout out to all the kids for their sweetness, hard work, and leadership.

Monday, January 23 Scholastic Bowl Results: Varsity: Lincoln 280, Mattoon 130 Charleston 280, Mattoon 110 Effingham 330, Mattoon 180 JV Mattoon 150, Lincoln 90 Mattoon 180, Charleston 120 Effingham 330, Mattoon 180 MHS also hosted the 7th annual Mattoon Fresh-Soph Invitational tournament on Saturday, January 21st. Our A team tied for 5th place in the 12-team field with a record of 3-4. Freshman Lincoln Wheeler averaged 46 points per game and was named to the All-Tournament Second Team. Scholastic Bowl Coach, Brendan Aydt stated, "We are really young this year; Kendall Holtzhouser is our senior anchor, and we have a large group of freshmen who were very successful at the 8th-grade level last year, so I am really excited about seeing them grow at the varsity level."

The Lady Wave basketball team took a trip to watch the Fighting Illini women's teams as they faced Indiana on January 18th. Many of the Illini men's basketball players were also in attendance, including Coleman Hawkins and Terrence Shannon who were nice enough to take a picture with our team!

Mrs. Grabiec's 3rd Grade class at Williams Elementary recently enjoyed a pizza party! Her class set a goal at the beginning of the year to earn 20 compliments for high level behavior during specials, at lunch, recess, and more. They met their goal and had such a slice day! 😂🍕

The Birth to 3 Program is teaching an 8-week Family Strategies course that delivers practical, proven tactics and related coaching to parents in a caring, small-group environment. This class is open to all families and includes free childcare, workbooks, and dinner will be provided! You must register to attend. The next session is February 7th. This team will have an exhibition performance at the end of the IDTA/IHSA Dance Team competition held at MHS on Sunday, January 29th. Birth to 3 Program January Family Night
Riddle Elementary 4th and 5th grade students are invited to participate in the Illinois Readers Choice Program, the Bluestem Award. There are twenty nominated books, and in March students are able to vote for the book they believe should win the award. For each Bluestem book read, students answer questions about the book and are entered into a monthly drawing for free books. Pictured are the drawing winners for the months of November and December.
