Before Winter Break, Franklin Preschool staff and families collected cleaning supplies to donate to Omega Nu of Epsilon Sigma Alpha. These cleaning supplies were then donated to families involved in One Stop Community Christmas.
Pictured is Renee Polston, an Omega Nu member and Rebecca Kimball, a Franklin Preschool teacher and an Omega Nu member.
Omega Nu members were very thankful for the donation and One Stop Community Christmas was a success!

Some of the MMS Mass Media students were recently able to visit Downtown Design Studio in Tuscola to learn about all things embroidery! The visit will help them prepare to begin utilizing the embroidery machine in the Media Center.
Kelley at Downtown Design took an afternoon to teach Zion, Cora, Mrs. Minger & Mrs. Vogel how to design files with software programming for students to be able to create projects utilizing textiles in the Maker Space.
These community partnerships allow us to expand learning opportunities in our area.

Riddle Elementary art students have been working on a new cafeteria mural. The mural is a combination of Vincent Van Gogh's Starry Night and the Great Wave of Kanagawa. Students are very excited about the progress made and can't wait to display it!

The Birth to 3 Program recently held their Winter Wonderland playgroup at LIFT. They had a snowflake hunt, created snowflake art, read a book, and more! The program holds monthly playgroups and family nights. For more information visit our website.

Our Mattoon families are incredible! Shout out to Cody Lee who recently donated this custom Greenwave sign for MHS! He is pictured on the right with MHS Athletic Director, Trent Duckett.

The holidays may be over and the students are back in session, but we couldn't resist showing a couple photos from before break when the Grinch stopped by Franklin Preschool. He wanted to thank the students for helping his heart grow with their acts of kindness and giving throughout the month of December. He also got to visit each room and have a "snowball" fight. The kids loved it!

Today we want to welcome our students back to school! Wishing you a wonderful day and an amazing semester.

Today we welcome teachers back and tomorrow students return from break to begin a new semester!

MHS students in Mrs. Bartlett’s Honors Math 3 class were showing off their math skills and creativity before break! Students were given a graphic artistry performance task that involved creating an image using two polynomial functions. After students solved the math, they were challenged to display a model of their finished product.

Happy retirement to Pam Heaton! Her last day as a Mattoon High School Supervisor was Wednesday, December 21st. Pam started with us in September of 1994. We appreciate her 29 years of service and she will be missed greatly!
Pam says her retirement plans include a trip to Costa Rica to visit her sister.
Pam stated, "When I first started, I was everybody's mom, then I turned into everybody's grandma. When I turned into everyone's great grandma, I decided it was time to retire."

Photos from the 5th Grade Winter Band Concert held on Tuesday, December 20. This concert brought together students from Riddle and Williams Elementary schools. What a wonderful night of music!
