Mattoon Rotary recognizes one Senior male and female at their monthly luncheon as Students of the Month.
Students are nominated by MHS staff and the selection criteria includes outstanding academic achievement and citizenship. Rotary Student of the Month for April winners are Raygen Drennan and Julia Morton.
Raygen’s guardian is Ida Abbott. He is currently the Mattoon JROTC Battalion Commander and the Raider Team Commander. Raygen has been in the Corps for three years. After graduation Raygen will be joining the Air Force.
Julia’s parents are Jeremy and Lori Morton. She is the NHS Treasurer, a member of the B.I.O.N.I.C Transfer Team and a Freshman Mentor. Julia is involved in Student Council, Team Massive, Golf and Volleyball. In the fall, Julia will be attending the University of Missouri (Mizzou) to obtain her Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design.
