Mattoon High School held its second college signing day of the year for athletes on May 1, 2024. Below is a list of all seven athletes who attended the event.

MHS 2024 Graduate and Student-Athlete Ella Conyers signed with Elmhurst University where she will continue her basketball career. Conyers has been playing basketball in Mattoon for the past twelve years. She's played for the Central Illinois Panthers, IL Team Torment, IL Fusion Basketball Academy, MMS, and MHS. She plans to major in Business/Sports Management at Elmhurst and chose the college because the academics and athletics fit what she was looking for. Conyers stated, "I am grateful to have had a successful basketball career at MHS and I enjoyed the memories made. I appreciate all the support from my coaches and teammates over the years. I am excited to continue my academic and athletic career at Elmhurst. I hope to make an impact here.”

MHS 2024 Graduate and Student-Athlete Lily Gregory signed with Greenville University where she will continue her tennis career. Gregory has been playing tennis all four years at MHS. She plans to major in Nursing at Greenville and chose the college after she was recruited by the coach her junior year at state. Gregory stated, "After four memorable years at MHS, I’m thrilled to be continuing my passion for tennis at the college level for Greenville University. With only nine on the team, I’m looking forward to a lot of playing time and new friendships.”

MHS 2024 Graduate and Student-Athlete Camden Jordan signed with Illinois College where he will continue his baseball career. Jordan has been playing baseball in Mattoon for the past twelve years. He’s played for the Mattoon Hitmen, The Raptors, Smoke, Braves, and MHS. He plans to study business while he attends. Jordan stated, "It’s been fun growing up playing here and I couldn’t have asked for better friends to play with from the start."

MHS 2024 Graduate and Student-Athlete Ella Laster signed with Rend Lake College where she will continue her volleyball career. Laster has been playing volleyball in Mattoon for the past seven years. She's played for MHS and Rapid Fire Club Volleyball. She chose the college for their Volleyball Team and the campus atmosphere. Laster stated, "I am thankful for all the opportunities I’ve received playing volleyball at MHS. I’m excited to see where this new journey takes me.”

MHS 2024 Graduate and Student-Athlete Oaklie Layton signed with McKendree University where she will continue her Track and Cross Country career. Layton has been participating in the sport in Mattoon for the past seven years at MMS and MHS. She plans to study Physical Education while she attends. Layton stated, "I am thrilled to be able to continue my running career.”

MHS 2024 Graduate and Student-Athlete Emily Maple signed with Indiana University at Kokomo where she will continue her basketball career. Maple has played basketball in Mattoon for the past fourteen years. She has played for MMS, MHS, Panthers, Torment, and the Indiana Elite Havoc. She plans to study Pre-Chiropractic while attending. Maple stated, "I am very excited! Hopefully, I will inspire other young women from Mattoon to reach their goals.

MHS 2024 Graduate and Student-Athlete Teygen Sewell signed with John Wood Community College where she will continue her basketball career. Sewell has played basketball in Mattoon for the past eleven years. She has played for City League, Havoc (aau), MMS, and MHS. She plans to study Social Work while attending. Sewell stated, "For me, I always wanted to work hard to get a scholarship to play at the next level, and that’s why I’m sitting here today. With that being said, I would like to thank my mom, my coaches, and all of my amazing teammates for helping me get to where I am today. Most importantly, thank you to Coach Lauren for believing in me and giving me this opportunity. I’m so excited for this next adventure.”
