Mattoon Rotary recognizes one senior male and female at their monthly luncheon as Students of the Month.  

Students are nominated by MHS staff and the selection criteria include outstanding academic achievement and citizenship.  Rotary Student of the Month for September winners are Brie Armstrong and Ben Capitosti. 

Brie is the daughter of Mike and Jennifer Armstrong.  At MHS, Brie is on the Varsity Cross Country team, Marching Band, LIFT, NHS, B.I.O.N.I.C, and Track. Brie serves as the Captain of the girls' track team this year.  She is heavily involved in her church where she is the President of the girl's Youth Group.  After graduation, Brie plans to go on an 18-month mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  After that, she plans to become an elementary teacher and study Biology and Psychology in Utah.

Ben’s parents are Jill and Greg Capitosti.  He is involved in NHS, B.I.O.N.I.C, LIFT-Leadership, and Health Occ.  Ben competed on ACES (Academic Challenge Team) in the Spring of 2024 and is on the Varsity MHS Football and Wrestling teams.  After graduation, Ben will attend Lake Land College to pursue his BSN in Nursing.
