Mattoon High School’s Drama Department is excited to present their upcoming production of Lucky Stiff. The musical comedy will be performed on March 27 and 28 at 7 p.m. in the MHS Main Gym, with tickets available for $10.
"Based on the novel The Man Who Broke the Bank at Monte Carlo by Michael Butterworth, Lucky Stiff is a fast-paced murder mystery farce featuring mistaken identities, a fortune in diamonds, and an embalmed uncle in a wheelchair. The story follows an unassuming English shoe salesman, Harry Witherspoon, who must take his recently deceased uncle on a trip to Monte Carlo in order to claim a $6 million inheritance. If he fails to keep up the illusion, the fortune goes to a dog charity—or his uncle’s gun-wielding ex." -Music Theatre International website.
With book and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens and music by Stephen Flaherty, Lucky Stiff promises to be an evening of laughs, surprises, and unforgettable performances.
