Madisyn Frank and Belle Powers, representing Mattoon Middle School, made a strong showing at the IESA Girls State Golf Tournament held at Metamora Fields on September 12th.
Frank, a seasoned competitor, continued her impressive performance with an 87, including a solid 43 on the front nine. Her efforts earned her a 13th-place finish in the field of 80 golfers. Powers, making her first State appearance, demonstrated remarkable resilience, rallying from a tough start to finish with a 107.
Both golfers have shown significant growth in their respective careers. Frank's 52nd-place finish last year, at the age of 11, is a testament to her dedication. Powers, coming from a golfing family, has the potential to make significant strides in the future.
Mattoon Middle School extends its gratitude to the parents of Frank and Powers for their unwavering support and to coaches Jason Enyart and Austin Frank for their guidance and expertise.
