There will also be a scavenger hunt, team-building activities, and pizza!

The Mattoon High School schedules for the new year are now available in Skyward for registered students. We encourage you and your student to review their first semester schedule. If a change needs to be requested, your student needs to complete the google form below using their school email account. At this time we are taking first semester changes only. We will be sending out a request for 2nd semester in November. 📋
The deadline to request a schedule change for the first semester is Friday, August 18th by 3:30pm. Students must fill out the Schedule Change Request form. 📝
Be mindful that we will try to accommodate the requests, but some changes are not possible because classes are balanced and some classes are full.
Also remember, there are NO lunch hour changes.

Did you know the Mattoon CUSD #2 Birth-3 Program and Little Leaders Daycare host free monthly playgroup & family night events for families with children 0-3 in the community? 👩🍼👨👩👧👦
In July, they held a science-filled family night where families enjoyed volcano-erupting ice cream snacks, color-fizzy experiments, erupting volcanoes, and more! During the July playgroup, kids created firework crafts, played in the sand and bubble toys, listened to a story, and ate snow cones. Families enjoyed interacting and building upon relationships with one another while having fun with their children. 🍦🧪🧑🔬
The next playgroup will be held on August 8th at Cunningham Park from 9:30-10:30 AM. They will be exploring dinosaurs with songs, art activities, stories, and snacks.🦖🦕
The next family night will be held on Tuesday, August 8th at First Southern Baptist Church from 6-9 PM for National Night Out. 🙋♀️

🤝 Meet our new Arland D. Williams Elementary assistant principal! 👋
Brandy Trussell is from Sullivan, Illinois, but her practice as an educator has been right here in Mattoon, Illinois and she is excited to start her 8th year. Her first assignment was at the Armstrong Center. The following year, she moved into a special education position at Riddle Elementary School, which included teaching in a special education self-contained setting. Last year, she got the opportunity to grow further by serving as the dean of students at Mattoon Middle School.
Mrs. Trussell's educational background includes a Bachelor’s of Science in Elementary Education and Special Education, a Masters of Special Education, and a Masters in Educational Leadership, all obtained from Eastern Illinois University,
Trussell is a mom of four grown children (three daughters and one son). She is the Nonnie of three granddaughters (Autumn-9, Harper-8, Kallipoe-4) and two grandsons (Oliver-2, Vincent-9 months).
