Mrs. Kimery’s kindergarten classroom at Riddle features the “discovery shelf.” This past week, students were able to discover and compare pumpkins size/weight of being heavy or light at one of the stations. In addition, each student received a pumpkin to take home! Pumpkins were donated from Mr. and Mrs. Black who work within the district!

Riddle Elementary 4th and 5th-grade students are invited to participate in the Illinois Readers Choice Program, the Bluestem Award. There are twenty nominated books, and in March students are able to vote for the book they believe should win the award. For each Bluestem book read, students answer questions about the book and are entered into a monthly drawing for free books.

Ballinger Hill Designs donated a three person glider (a value of $300) to Raffle off. Tickets will be sold for $5 each and they are only selling 500!

EIU is excited to once again offer a scholarship at this year's Coles County Clash - an awesome event with a rich tradition of competition and community.
The $2,000 scholarship drawing will only be open to seniors from Mattoon and Charleston High School, and the winners, one from each school, will be announced Friday evening, October 7, during halftime of the football game.
All any student has to do is apply to EIU by Thursday, October 6. The application only takes about 20 minutes and is completely free, test scores optional, and no essays required!
If a student has already applied to EIU, they don't need to do anything - they'll automatically be entered into the scholarship drawing!
