This past week the Birth-3 program had fun with our Parent Ed event. We learned how to make picky eaters love fruits and veggies. We made fun art projects that you could EAT! Every child made yummy snacks and went home with snack kits to do at home. Each family also got a cookbook focused on making food fun.

Staff from the Mattoon Public Library visited Riddle Elementary before school let out for the summer to help first-grade students sign up for library cards and distribute information about the summer reading program. The public library is offering students up to age 18 a free library card this summer. Stop by and pick one up! The summer reading program begins June 8.

This past week teachers & staff at MHS, went and delivered signs to the entire Class of 2022 Graduates! Here are just a few photos. We are so proud of all of our graduates & wish them all the best things in life, whatever their next step may be! 💚

Franklin Preschool had their annual Fun Day on Friday, May 20th. Students were able to visit different stations that consisted of a Carnival in the school gym, rock painting for the butterfly garden, two bouncy houses, snow cones, a train ride, and rocket launchers on the playground. There were also special Paw Patrol visitors as well! Special thanks to all those that volunteered to help make this possible. We couldn't hold big events for our students without all the help we receive from the community, school district, and different organizations around Mattoon.
Throughout the school year Mattoon Rotary and MHS Staff recognize one Senior Male and Female based off of outstanding academic achievement and citizenship. Students are recognized during Rotary's monthly luncheon held at the Mattoon Country Club. Congratulations to the following students:

👩🎓 👨🏽🎓 Here are some important things to remember about Project Graduation tomorrow night:
🚪 Doors open at 10:30 and you MUST be checked in by midnight.
📱 If a student has signed up, but does not check-in, their guardians will be called.
💰 If a student leaves before the end of the event, they forfeit their money and prizes, and a guardian will be called.
🎉 If a student did not submit a permission slip, they may submit one at the door and attend, but they will not receive cash and prizes.
🩱 Students can bring a phone charger, swimsuit & towel if they want to swim. Students can also bring their own Nintendo Switch to use with the Y’s system.
🥤 NO outside drinks, snacks, blankets, tobacco, or vape products are allowed.
💼 Upon entering, any bags will be searched and every student will receive a drawstring bag courtesy of Sherri Branson - State Farm Insurance Agent and Brian Fogarty-State Farm Agent.
🛑 If a student is found with any illegal or unauthorized substances or items, a guardian will be called and the student will be removed.
If a student is believed to be under the influence of any substance, law enforcement will be called.
Activities include tournaments:
🏀 Basketball
🏐 Volleyball
🏸 Badminton
⭕️ Dodgeball
😎Spikeball
As well as Knockerballs, inflatable games, casino games, yard games, video games, karaoke, movies, swimming and more- dress comfortably!
We will draw for the car from KC Summers as well as a consolation prize of a trip from Pilson Auto Centers at approximately 4:30 a.m. and then students will be dismissed and receive their gifts and CASH!

WIGs Wednesday - Summer Edition :)
Meet Fern Jones! Fern's summer WIG includes keeping her skills sharp in order to be ready for third grade this fall. Fern plans to practice memorizing her multiplication and division facts each week with her Mimi. Fern says that it is important to start the new school year with a ready-to-learn attitude. We have no doubt that Fern will work hard to accomplish her goals. Have a great summer Fern!

Before school let out for the summer, 5th Graders at Williams took a field trip to the Skating Rink. The students enjoyed skating, laser tag, mini-golf, and video games.

On the last day of school at Williams students and teachers in grades K-4 lined the halls and held signs and cheered as the 5th grade students marched around the halls. The theme of the day for the 5th grade awards ceremony earlier in the day was “My futures so bright I gotta wear shades!” Several students wore there sunglasses all day and some dressed up in costumes for the parade as well.

MHS is hosting a youth volleyball camp for girls entering grades 3-8 this July. This camp will focus on the fundamentals, teamwork, and individual skill development. The 3-day camp is open to girls entering 3-8 grade and will be led by the MHS girls' Volleyball coaching staff. Extra registration forms can be picked up from the MHS office and must be turned in to the same place by June 15, 2022.
Cost is $40 per athlete & includes a shirt. Please make checks payable to MHS Volleyball.
