The MHS Boys Golf team finished their first tournament of the season in the top half of a loaded field at the D.A. Weibring course at Illinois State University by shooting 317 as a team. Evan Diedrich (Soph.) earned a top 10 individual finish with a 75. It was a good start to the season for the reigning Apollo Conference champions!
MHS Child Care Occupations students recently began their practicum experience in the 7 different classrooms at Franklin Preschool. The students are excited to serve their community and to learn valuable skills that can help them in both life and their future careers.

MHS teachers are excited to have students back in our classrooms! All staff and students begin each day with Wave Time, which provides both teachers and students with the opportunity to begin their days in a positive environment that can nuture their social and emotional needs. The Wave Time weekly schedule consists of academic planning, goal setting, reflection, and in-depth exploration of the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. Be sure to ask your student about her/his experiences with Wave Time.
The Mattoon JROTC competed in Drill, Rifle, and Colorguard at the Illinois State Fair on Veteran's and Gold Star Families Day.
The Cadets received 3rd place with an additional Award of Leadership presented to Milla Helton.

Mattoon High School will be hosting a free vaccine clinic on August 28 in conjunction with the Illinois Department of Public Health. On Wednesday May 19, MHS staff delivered yard signs to the homes graduating seniors. Teachers, administrators, and support staff travelled throughout the district to visit seniors and their families to congratulate them on their accomplishments. Thanks to all those who helped celebrate the successes of our senior class!

This group is comprised of students who want to pursue related career paths, and the club has given them some hands-on opportunities to learn more about these fields thru direct experience and service learning. Students from the Childcare Occupations, National Honor Society, and ROTC programs at Mattoon High School visited the Franklin Pre-School Fun Day on May 20 to celebrate the last day of school with Pre-K students. Lots of smiles were shared by all!!
