Meet Allie Winkler! She just completed 3rd grade in Ms. Ames' class at Williams Elementary. She selected Math as the main target area for her WIG (Wildly Important Goal). She met and exceeded her personal goals in Math. She also did an excellent job of meeting her weekly goals in Lexia and Dreambox. She is excited for 4th grade and she is already setting a personal goal to learn as much as she can about division!

Improvements are being made to the North & South entrances at Mattoon Middle School along 9th street and MMS.
The South entrance will remain closed through Monday. On Monday, the South entrance will open and the North entrance will close for work through Friday, July 22 -weather permitting).

Band practice at MMS will now end at 11:00 AM tomorrow (Friday, July 15).
If you are unable to pick up your child or arrange for someone to pick them up at that time, they can stay at the school in the band room with Miss Zumbahlen until 12 pm. They can practice, or spend time with peers until they are picked up.

The Mattoon school board announced Dale Righter will serve as a new board member representing Mattoon CUSD #2.
The vacancy became available on July 1, 2022, after Susan Braun announced her resignation. The board interviewed applicants during their July 12, 2022 meeting and selected Righter.
“It’s an honor to be appointed to the school board that oversees the district where I went to school and where my two boys attended,” said Righter. “Mattoon has a great school system and I look forward to being a part of making it even stronger for our students and community.”
Righter graduated from Mattoon High School and attended St. Louis University Law School, as well as Eastern Illinois University. He served as an Illinois State Representative from 1997-2003 and as a member of the Illinois Senate from 2003-2021.
Currently, Righter is the owner and operator of the Law offices of Dale A. Righter in Mattoon and has operated the business since November of 2019.
“On behalf of the Mattoon school board, we are pleased and honored to welcome Dale to the school board and believe he will be a valuable asset to the district,” said Michelle Skinlo, board president.
Dale Righter will take the oath of office at the regular meeting on August 9, 2022.

Meet the new Mattoon High School Athletic Director, Trent Duckett!
Trent previously worked for our district from 2009 to 2015 as a Social Studies teacher. He was an assistant football coach for six years, JV softball coach for two years, and head softball coach for two years.
Most recently, Duckett worked as the St John's Lutheran School Principal from 2015 to 2022 and their Athletic Director from 2016 to 2022.
We are proud to welcome him back to the district!
