The 7th-grade MMS Wildcat Basketball Team finished their season with a record of 15-9. Here's a photo from when they won their semifinal match on January 23rd. They lost in the Championship vs. Mt. Zion on January 24th 35-31. Great season, Wildcats! We are proud of you!

In December, seventh-grade celebrated their Book of the Month readers! Students could choose to read at least one of the Books of the Month and pass a short quiz. They were given a pass to get a reward from librarian, Mrs. Minger, and the option to attend a pizza party. It was a full house! Congrats to our readers! 🎉 📖

Due to inclement weather producing slick road conditions, Mattoon CUSD #2 Schools will be closed Monday, January 22, 2024. This includes all sessions at LIFT Central Illinois. There will be no e-Learning.
A decision will be made by noon determining whether practices and other extracurricular events will be postponed. Coaches will notify the students.
As a result of this emergency day, Wednesday, May 22, 2024 will now be a student attendance day.
Due to unforeseen circumstances with the boiler at the Mattoon Middle School, MMS will have an Emergency Day for Wednesday, January 17th. THIS IS FOR MATTOON MIDDLE SCHOOL ONLY.
Our primary concern is for the health and safety of our students and staff. Maintenance crews are on site and working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.
Parents and guardians have been contacted with further details.

Mrs. Bartels Den class at Mattoon Middle School recently applied for a grant with the Hannah Mansell Happy Day Foundation. Hannah was an interpreter at Mattoon Middle School who sadly passed away from covid. Her family carries on her sweet and giving spirit with grants to spread kindness. ❤️
The class decided that they wanted to share some kindness with the MMS custodial staff because they work hard, are always smiling, and are willing to help anyone in need. 🫶
Students coordinated buying lunch for the custodians from Angelo's Pizza and Ginger Ale's. Mrs. Bartels stated, "I am very proud of my Den for thinking of others and we are honored to keep Hannah's spirit of kindness alive." 🥰
